O2 isn’t messing around, as there’s news this week that its speedy 4G service is headed to Brancaster, Mealsgate, Sebergham, Silloth and Welham Green.
In fact, it may already be live in Mealsgate, Sebergham and Silloth, as upgrade work was due to start in all of those place on the 10th of April.
Brancaster and Welham Green meanwhile will shortly follow, with work set to begin on Monday the 24th of April, and – at least in Welham Green’s case – set to finish two days later, on the 26th.
If you’re in any of these locations and not on O2, then, well, we hope you’re on EE, as that network has strong outdoor coverage in all of them, while indoors it’s strong in Mealsgate, reasonable in Silloth and Welham Green and weak in Brancaster and Sebergham.
That might sound like a mixed bag, but Three has no 4G coverage indoors or out in any of these locations, while Vodafone has none in Mealsgate, Sebergham or Brancaster – though upgrade work is planned within the next three months in the latter.
It’s better in Silloth, where there’s no indoor Vodafone 4G, but some outdoor coverage, and even better in Welham Green, where it has strong 4G coverage both indoors and out – in fact, it even beats EE there.
Still, once O2 4G arrives in these locations it should shoot it up to or near the top for residents and visitors, allowing them to work, stream and download on the move, as if they were on a Wi-Fi connection.
And these aren’t the only upgrades O2 is making. The network also recently brought 4G to Pensford, Mossbank and Ollaberry, and has also just launched 4G Calling and Wi-Fi Calling.
