Microsoft 365 Personal is now an EE Smart Benefit

27th October 2021

Microsoft 365 Smart Benefit

EE’s Smart Benefit service keeps getting better, as it now has a great new option for anyone who values productivity over entertainment.

The company now lets Connected Device customers (meaning tablets, laptops, and data SIMs) choose a subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal on Smart Plans.

Microsoft 365 Personal gives you access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook, plus Skype and 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage. And you’re not limited to just using these services on one device – you can access your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription on up to five devices, including Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices.

Having a Microsoft 365 subscription also means that all of these services will be kept up to date, so you’ll never miss out on the latest features. And you get access to free support (via chat or phone) for the life of the subscription.

Like all Smart Benefits, the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription will last for the duration of your EE contract, and it’s included as a free perk, whereas if you bought it separately it would cost £5.99 per month.

Take your pick

But on Smart Plans you have to choose it over the other options, which on Connected Device plans include Netflix, BT Sport Ultimate, a Video Data Pass (so you can watch video content on some services without it using your data allowance), and a Roam Abroad pass (which offers free roaming in Europe and beyond).

It’s worth emphasising that the selection of Smart Benefits available on smartphone plans (whether SIM only or a contract with a phone) is slightly different and doesn’t currently include Microsoft 365 Personal. That’s slightly disappointing but understandable, since connected devices like tablets and laptops are more likely to be used for work.

In addition to a benefit of your choice, Smart Plans also come with EE’s Stay Connected service, which means you can keep using data at a reduced speed when your allowance runs out. So they’re comprehensive, premium plans, but they’re priced accordingly – in many cases you can get the same allowances for less money if you choose an ordinary EE plan.
