  • Overview

What unlimited data plans does EE offer?

EE offers a variety of unlimited data SIM Only plans, on a choice of 24-month or 1-month plans. Typically, you’ll pay less per month on longer contracts, but of course you’re also committed for longer. All of these plans also come with unlimited minutes and texts.

Beyond durations, there are a number of other variations in EE’s unlimited data SIM Only plans. The most basic and affordable are dubbed ‘Unlimited No Frills plans’. These limit you to 10Mbps speeds, which means you can’t remotely take advantage of 5G speeds here, as those are the sorts of speeds you’d typically get with 4G.

However, these plans do include data gifting, so you can move data between your accounts, and you can tether.

Next up there’s an ‘Unlimited Essentials plan’, and these plans cap your speeds at 100Mbps, which is fast but not as fast as 5G can potentially get. An ‘Unlimited Essentials Plus plan’ is similar, but with added EU roaming and unlimited data for a connected smartwatch, while ‘Unlimited Essentials Max’ lacks those extras but gives you uncapped speeds.

Then there are ‘All Rounder’ plans, which have uncapped speeds plus all the extras listed above, including EU roaming and unlimited watch data. These additionally grant you one ‘Inclusive Extra’, from a choice of Apple Music, Apple TV, Netflix Standard with adverts or Google One Premium 2 TB. With these plans you can also make use of 5G+, which is EE’s even faster 5G Standalone service.

Finally, there are ‘Full Works’ plans, which are EE’s ultimate unlimited data plans. These include everything from All Rounder plans, except you get a more premium selection of Inclusive Extras to choose from, with the options being: Netflix Premium, Apple One Individual, TNT Sports on Discovery Plus, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, or Google AI Pro.

Full Works plans also extend free roaming beyond the EU to also include the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Mexico.

We’re talking specifically about SIM Only plans here, but you can also get unlimited data with a phone on EE.

Why should I choose EE unlimited data?

EE is a great choice for unlimited data because it offers such a wide selection of unlimited data SIM Only plans. These include various different contract lengths, maximum speeds, and bundled extras, so it’s easy to find an option that’s the perfect fit.

EE also offers impressive speeds and coverage with both 4G and 5G, so you’ll be able to make the most of all that data, and with data gifting on its plans you can share your hefty allowance with other devices and family members.

Is EE unlimited data really unlimited?

EE’s unlimited data plans are subject to a fair usage policy which states that you should use under 600GB per month. You also shouldn’t regularly tether 12 or more devices simultaneously, and there’s a 50GB monthly limit when roaming.

None of these limitations should be a problem for most people though, and in the UK at least EE’s unlimited data plans are virtually unlimited.

Can you tether with EE unlimited data?

Yes, you can tether with EE’s unlimited data plans, meaning you can use your mobile connection to get other devices such as laptops and tablets online, and with no limit to the amount of data you can use (other than the standard 600GB fair usage limit). Note however that you shouldn’t regularly tether 12 or more devices at the same time. This though shouldn’t be an issue for most people.

Can you use EE unlimited data abroad?

EE has a fair usage limit of 50GB when roaming abroad, which is notably more than a lot of networks allow but not unlimited.

Additionally, roaming isn’t included on No Frills, Essentials, and Essentials Max plans.

Can you get unlimited data on EE Pay As You Go?

Yes, unlimited data is available on EE Pay As You Go at the time of writing. However, speeds are limited to 25Mbps.

Are there any alternatives?

Lots of other networks offers unlimited data plans, including Three, O2, Vodafone, 1pMobileAsda Mobile, Giffgaff, iD Mobile, Lebara, Lyca Mobile, Sky MobileSmarty, Tesco Mobile, Talkmobile, and VOXI.
