Penrith, Troon and more get speedy Vodafone 4G

26th January 2017

4G

We’re less than a month into 2017 and already Vodafone is bringing 4G to numerous new locations, including Penrith, Troon, Milford Haven and Blandford Forum.

Vodafone started its 4G roll out in the historic town of Penrith in Cumbria last week, according to the News & Star, so residents and visitors should soon see a substantial increase in speeds, as well as a boosted 3G service.

The roll out in Troon and Milford Haven meanwhile should already be complete, while Vodafone itself confirmed that Blandford Forum would be seeing 4G speeds from mid-January, so you should be able to see improvements there too.

The upgrade to 4G will be especially beneficial to Blandford Forum, as while this location has strong O2 4G coverage, there’s only partial EE 4G and no 4G coverage from Three.

Milford Haven also lacks Three 4G, but has solid coverage from the other networks, while Troon has some 4G from all four major networks, but only partial coverage from EE and Three.

Penrith is in the strongest position, with solid 4G coverage already from EE and O2, and partial coverage from Three.

This latest upgrade work from Vodafone follows advances in late 2016, which saw 4G brought to Rugeley, Bridgnorth and Bletchley among other locations.

The network now has 4G coverage in 913 cities and towns, as well as thousands of smaller communities across the UK, and that number is going to keep growing, with the company currently spending around £1 billion on its network and services.

Already over 85% of the UK population can get Vodafone 4G, and ultimately that figure is set to reach at least 98%.
