Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and it has held that title for much of the past decade.

The South Korean company is responsible for the popular Galaxy S range of phones, which has long been the de facto headliner for Google's Android platform. Alongside Apple's iPhone, it's the biggest and most recognisable smartphone line in the business.

Samsung doesn't just make high quality smartphones - it's also a key supplier of smartphone components to the rest of the industry. Its vibrant OLED displays, in particular, can be found in virtually every high-end smartphone on the market, including Apple's.

Samsung phones with 5G

Samsung was a keen early adopter of 5G, with South Korea being one of the best-covered 5G countries on the planet. The brand's first 5G phone was the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, which launched way back in 2019. Here's the current Samsung line-up, complete with 5G readiness:

Which Samsung phone should I buy?

While Samsung is often pitched in with Apple as a premium smartphone maker, the truth is that it has always provided affordable alternatives to its flagship Galaxy S line.

From the £159 Samsung Galaxy M12 right up to the £1,799 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, there's almost certainly a Samsung-branded phone to suit your budget and aspirations.

Best Samsung phone

Samsung's current traditional range topper is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and it's many people's pick for the best phone on the market. With a class-leading 6.8-inch 120Hz QHD Super AMOLED display fronting a classy, swooping glass and a metal design, it's certainly got that wow factor.

This is backed up by a stunning 108MP camera that takes remarkably bright and sharp shots in all lighting conditions, and a dedicated 10MP periscope lens with a 10X optical zoom. No phone takes close-ups quite like the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Cheapest Samsung phone

The cheapest Samsung phone on the market right now is the Samsung Galaxy M12. For around £160 SIM-free, you're getting a surprisingly well-specced phone.

Those specs include a fast 90Hz Infinity-V display, support for Dolby Atmos audio, and excellent stamina from its 5000mAh battery. Factor in solid performance, and you have a budget phone with a little more about it than most.

Best overall value Samsung phone

If you're looking for value for money, look no further than the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. It offers many of the things you'd expect to see in a more expensive phone, such as a 120Hz AMOLED display, solid IP67-certified build quality, and a strong and stable main camera.

Despite all this, it's available for around a third of the price of the aforementioned Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It's a bit of a bargain, all things considered.

Recent Samsung phones

Samsung tends to launch its mainline Galaxy S range early in the year, so while these are technically the best phones Samsung has to offer, they're not the most recent.

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G was announced in June 2021, and the Samsung Galaxy M32 was announced in July. Both offer rapid 90Hz displays, high-MP cameras, and large 5,000 mAh batteries for budget prices.

Conclusions

Alongside Apple, Samsung's is the biggest and most recognisable name on the smartphone market. Its devices are always impeccably well equipped, with punchy cameras and vibrant displays regardless of the price.

Unlike Apple, Samsung is as conscious of the budget market as it is the flagship category, and it ensures a high level of quality throughout its range. As such, we're confident in saying that there really is a Samsung phone for everyone.
