Nokia Lumia 820
It has a colourful plastic build and is available in a choice of black, grey, red, blue, yellow, white or violet. The plastic look and feel of the handset is far from premium, but the bright colours help it stand out and make it look unmistakably like a Lumia phone.
The Nokia Lumia 820 has a 4.3 inch 480 x 800 AMOLED display with a pixel density of 217 pixels per inch. That’s not a hugely high resolution but it’s not super low either and it uses Nokia’s ClearBlack technology to reduce reflections and give the display enhanced contrast.
It has a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, which is enough for smooth and slick performance as Windows Phone 8 doesn’t require powerful hardware to run well.
The Nokia Lumia 820 has just 8GB of built in storage but it also has a micro SD card slot with support for cards of up to 64GB. That’s worth highlighting as surprisingly higher end Lumia handsets don’t have a micro SD card slot, so that gives the Nokia Lumia 820 an advantage over them.
It also has an 8 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flash, leaving it capable of taking solid shots in a variety of scenes modes. It can also shoot 1080p video at 30fps and has a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera.
The Nokia Lumia 820 has a 1650 mAh battery, promising standby times of up to 330 hours or talk time of up to 8 hours over 3G. The phone supports 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 3.1 and NFC.
Nokia Lumia 820 Release Date & Price
The Nokia Lumia 820 has been out since late 2012 and is available SIM free from around £200, which is a similar sort of price to the Huawei Ascend P1 and the Sony Xperia L.
On a 24 month 4G contract it can be found for £26 a month on EE, with no upfront cost for the handset. It can also be had on a 24 month 4G plan with Vodafone from £38 per month with no upfront charge.
A 24 month 3G contract will set you back from around £15.50 per month with no charge for the handset.
