Swimbridge, Hallbankgate and Aberchirder get fast O2 4G

20th February 2017

O2 coverage

O2’s 4G network is on the move, bringing superfast mobile data to three new locations across the UK, specifically the North Devon village of Swimbridge, the Cumbrian village of Hallbankgate and the Aberdeenshire village of Aberchirder.

Upgrade work in Swimbridge and Hallbankgate started this week, while it’s set to start next week in Aberchirder according to the Evening Express, so in all three cases users of the O2 network should start to see the benefits in the next few weeks.

And the benefits are big, with 4G making web browsing, streaming and downloading far faster than on 3G, so you can get an experience similar to Wi-Fi wherever you are.

This is all the more notable in Swimbridge, as the village currently has little to no 4G coverage on any network, so O2 bringing it there will be transformative.

Hallbankgate meanwhile has solid EE 4G coverage, but little Three coverage and no 4G from Vodafone, so there too O2 4G should make a significant difference.

And it’s a similar story in Aberchirder, which has patchy EE and Vodafone 4G, and none through Three.

It’s exactly these sorts of rural locations that are most in need of network improvements, so it’s great to see O2 focusing on them, and the roll outs to Swimbridge, Hallbankgate and Aberchirder are also set to improve 2G and 3G coverage in these areas, so you’ll benefit even if you don’t have a 4G phone.

These aren’t the only rural locations that O2 has set in its sights either, with rural Carlisle, Much Hadham, Howden, Barnstaple and Wilton also recently getting an O2 4G upgrade. If O2 hasn’t got to your area yet, don’t worry, because improvement works are set to continue throughout 2017 and beyond, as O2 works towards reaching at least 97% UK population coverage with 4G.
