Pontypridd is the 500th community to receive 4G from Vodafone

Pontypridd Vodafone 4G

The launch of 4G in Pontypridd is a landmark occasion for Vodafone, as the network has now brought 4G to 500 communities across the UK. Another way to look at it is that Vodafone currently offers 4G to 65% of UK premises.

Those are fairly impressive numbers and the expansion is happening fast as it was less than three months ago that Vodafone announced Bridgend was the 400th town to receive speedy 4G.

Pontypridd residents on Vodafone will now be able to get online faster and in more places, allowing them to work, communicate and stream media more flexibly than ever.

Not only does the area now have faster data but as part of the upgrade Vodafone strengthened the existing mobile phone services across the town, so customers should experience better indoor and outdoor network coverage.

Jorge Fernandes, Chief Technology Officer for Vodafone UK, commented: “Our network improvements across Pontypridd will ensure users enjoy stronger 3G coverage, whilst the arrival of 4G will also help local businesses react faster to the needs of their customers. We also know that 70% of our customers use their mobile devices most in the home or the office, which is why our investment is particularly focused to improving indoor coverage.”

That’s good news for Pontypridd, but there are still plenty of places in need of a network upgrade, especially in other parts of Wales. So it’s good to know that Vodafone has pledged to bring 3G and 4G mobile coverage to more than 94% of the Welsh population.

If you’re in Pontypridd but not on Vodafone don’t worry, because EE and O2 also have live 4G networks in the town. That just leaves Three without one.
