Motorola X Phone – Motorola’s First 4G Smartphone ?

22nd January 2013
Motorola X PhoneAs soon we heard of the leak concerning the Motorola X Phone we thought, cor blimey, a potential new phone from Motorola and by the sound of the name it feels like a phone that could make an impact.   Motorola launched or updated a number of 3G phones in 2012 but none really had the X-factor that we recall. These were the ones we recall : Motorola RAZR i, Motorola MotoSmart, Motorola RAZR MAXX, Motorola Defy Mini, Motorola Pro+ and more. The thing is do any of them really stand out – we don’t think so and we hope that a phone called the Motorola X Phone will change all that.

Motorola X Phone – an Android 5.0 smartphone ?

Of course, Google purchased Motorola back in 2011 and since then we have been waiting for their first jointly developed Android smartphone. So this seems to be it – The Motorola X Phone. We think it would make sense for Google to launch the Motorola X Phone at the same time as the release of Android 5.0 ( Android Key Lime Pie ) and make it the first 4G phone to come loaded with Google’s latest version of Android.

Motorola X Phone – what’s been leaked ?

Firstly, the Motorola X Phone is rumoured to be the codename only and it is suggested that it will launch sometime in May this year. It will be badged as a Motorola smartphone. It's leaked that it will come with a 5 inch touchscreen of the bezel-less type which seems to be becoming more popular of late ( just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 ).   There is little more to report at this time other than to say that the projected date for the release of Android 5.0 is also around May so this seems to slot in nicely with the timing for the release of the Motorola X Phone.   More on the Motorola X Phone as soon as we get more. This could be at the forthcoming Google I/O Developers Conference which is held in May.   Source
