The village of Henham in Essex is about to get upgraded to O2 4G, bringing with it faster speeds, so that customers can download files in a flash, stream high definition content, play online games and even work on the move from their mobile devices.
The upgrade work will also bring improvements to O2’s 2G and 3G services in the area. According to the Herts and Essex Observer the upgrades will be carried out starting on Monday the 30th of November and subject to successful implementation and testing customers will have 4G in the following weeks, so hopefully before the end of the year.
Derek McManus, chief operating officer for Telefónica UK, said: "O2 customers in Henham will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high-definition TV, shopping on the go and video calling.
"For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. They can work remotely, access cloud services, collaborate using apps and so on. 4G will make everything easier for them."
While the work is being carried out there may be signal disruptions, in which case users are advised to download the O2 TU Go app, as that will allow them to call and text over Wi-Fi.
Elsewhere we could also see O2 4G, as well as Vodafone 4G, coming to Telford soon, as according to the Shropshire Star planning permission has been given to upgrade a mast which will allow both networks to activate a 4G service.
EE and Three both already have 4G coverage in Telford, so this upgraded mast will mean that soon all the networks will have 4G in the area. Henham on the other hand just has partial 4G coverage from EE, with none yet from Vodafone or Three.
