EE becomes a Superbrand

EE becomes a Superbrand

Superbrands carries out independent research to identify the UK’s strongest brands, awarding them Superbrand status, based on the opinions of marketing experts, business professionals and thousands of British consumers and this year EE made the list of Superbrands.

It’s the only UK mobile network on the list, with O2, Three and Vodafone all absent. EE is also the youngest standalone brand to make the 2015 list, as it’s only two years old, while the majority of inclusions are long-established brands such as Barclays and Sainsbury’s.

Over 1500 brands were judged by 2500 UK consumers and they were rated on quality, reliability and distinction, so being included in the final list is certainly a good thing.

It’s perhaps no wonder EE made the cut though, as it has the largest and fastest 4G network in the UK, with 80 percent population coverage and 8.3 million customers.

The network continues to grow at a rapid rate and has partnered with other major institutions, such as Glastonbury Festival and Wembley Stadium, as well as pushing for ever faster speeds with double speed 4G and 4G+, while continuing to deliver a reliable network, for which it’s received numerous awards from the likes of RootMetrics.

It’s also an enormously recognisable brand, thanks in large part to its extensive marketing campaigns which Kevin Bacon has become the face of.

Spencer McHugh, Director of Brand at EE, said: “EE has built a superbrand – superfast. Since launch we have been committed to one purpose - to show people in the UK how the magic of technology can make every day better.

“Our brand has been built around a fundamental belief that through constant innovation we will be able to offer our customers everything they need from our network today and also guide them through the fantastic possibilities that technology will bring in the future.”

Being awarded Superbrand status is quite an achievement for EE, but now we can’t help but wonder if any other UK networks will make the list next year. If Three and O2 become one super network as might happen if Hutchison Whampoa’s acquisition of O2 goes through then they could certainly have a shot at it.
