Apple iPhone 6 – coming in June 2013 ?

10th January 2013
iPhone 6 LogoMore speculation has surfaced about the iPhone 6 and comes in three parts. The first and second part involve two predictions from a well-respected telecoms analyst and the third part is picked up by a release from Corning Gorilla Glass.   Apple previously launched its iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 in October, 2011 and September, 2012 respectively so its logical to assume the iPhone would come around August / September, 2013. This is what most people expect.   However, Michael Walkley of Canaccord Genuity analysts tends to differ with other industry forecasters in that he is predicting that a “new high-end iPhone” would be most likely to arrive in Q2 June 2013. The difficulty is that he didn’t confirm whether he thought it was the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 at his briefing. 4G.co.uk tend to think this is likely to be the iPhone 5S with the iPhone 6 coming around September time. I mean what's the point of launching the iPhone 5S after the iPhone 6.   Another prediction from the same analyst, backs the launch of an Apple iPhone Mini which would be primarily sold in “third world countries” The plan here is for Apple to compete with the cheaper range of Android phones.   Meanwhile, Gorilla Corning Glass confirmed that a new improved variant of its Gorilla Glass display which is three times tougher than that currently used on mid to high end smartphones. 4G.co.uk note that all iPhones since the iPhone 4 have come with a Gorilla Glass display so we expect to see the iPhone 5S with the new tougher glass ( maybe ) but definitely on the iPhone 6. More on the new tougher Gorilla Glass here.
