Why choose BT SIM-only?

BT’s SIM-only contracts are just 12 months long, so you’re not tied in for as long as you would be if you were getting a new phone as well.

They’re also great value, especially if you’re a BT Broadband customer, as you’re then eligible for a £5 discount every month.

BT also has great coverage, especially for 4G, as it uses EE’s infrastructure – a network which has more 4G coverage than any other, accounting for over 99% of the UK population.

Added extras

BT Mobile SIM-only plans also give you free access to BT’s extensive network of over 5 million Wi-Fi hotspots, for speeds even faster than 4G.

Or, if you want a speed boost to your 4G, you can add ‘Extra Speed’ to it, bringing the speed up to a maximum of 60Mbps for a small monthly fee – and some plans come with this at no extra cost. BT Mobile also allows both Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE.

There are also Family SIMs, which let you add up to five SIMs to your plan for friends and family. They’re easy to manage, with one monthly bill and their own allowances, and the more you add the cheaper each one gets.

Plus, some plans come with BT Sport thrown in free on your mobile.

Data roaming

BT Mobile lets you roam like home in 47 destinations across Europe, so you can use your minutes, texts and data (up to 15GB) at no extra cost. BT Mobile also offers a Travel Data Pass, which lets you use 500MB of data for £6 a day in a number of countries outside Europe.

Tethering

With a BT Mobile SIM-only contract you can use as much of your monthly data allowance as you want for tethering, at no extra cost.

How can I keep my number when switching?

All you need is your PAC code, which you can get off the network you’re leaving. Then, once you’ve activated your BT SIM card, ask BT to port your number and give them the PAC code. If you provide your code before 3PM on a week day then your number should be ported the next working day.

Which size SIM will I get?

BT Mobile will send you a 3-in-1 SIM card that contains a standard SIM, a micro SIM and a nano SIM. Those are all the possible SIM card sizes, you just pop out the one you need.
