Swaledale to get 4G network upgrade

28th March 2017

Swaledale 4G Upgrade

Swaledale in North Yorkshire set to get improved reception and 4G service on EE's network.

EE has submitted planning permission to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to upgrade its network mast, which is located at Grinton Lodge. Approval seems pretty likely given that the upgrade only involves EE installing two additional cabinets and antennas on the existing mast.

Local villages and hamlets will benefit from the upgrade, but it will also be welcomed by tourists visiting the picturesque location, which is popular with walkers and campers.

Rural locations will continue to benefit from improved mobile coverage in the coming months with the government committed to reducing ‘not-spots’ and ‘partial not-spots’ under its Mobile Infrastructure Project (MIP).

EE are ahead of its rivals in terms of 4G coverage with 97 per cent UK population coverage. However, the geographical figure is significantly lower at 75 per cent with EE aiming to get it up to 95 per cent by the end of 2020.
