O2 has begun work to bring 4G to the village of Pensford in the Chew Valley.
Network improvements commenced on March 27th and will take a few weeks to be fully implemented and tested.
Residents and visitors to the Somerset village should notice improved speeds and coverage brought by 4G. However, while the network is in the process of being upgraded O2 customers may experience disruptions to service.
Derek McManus, Chief Operating Officer, Telefónica UK said: “I’m delighted that O2 customers in Pensford will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet making everything easier when using their phone or tablet. They’ll be able to stream high definition TV, shop on the go and use video calling. For our business customers, using 4G means they can be more effective and flexible by working remotely, accessing cloud services and collaborating using apps.”
O2 and other UK networks are currently investing heavily in coverage in rural areas due to the governments drive to eliminate ‘not-spots’ and ‘partial not-spots’, which are areas with no or poor mobile coverage.
