Its been reported that Phones 4u are planning to become the fourth company to sign-up as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator with EE ( which owns Orange and T-Mobile ). 4G.co.uk know of three other MVNOs and these are Talk Home Mobile, White Mobile and the People’s Operator.
The news breaks via mobilenewscwp who have reported that Phones 4u will launch their new MVNO venture called Life Mobile in March this year. The new MVNO will launch in two phases – the first phase will be as a 3G MVNO using EE’s 3G mobile network with the second phase scheduled for later this year as a 4G MVNO using EE’s 4G mobile network.
This is another extremely clever move from EE as they have recently closed 78 of its 700 High Street shops to accommodate the joining of Orange and T-Mobile into the EE brand leaving 622 active shops. However, with the 350 Phones 4u shops now included this means EE has access to over 950 High Street stores to promote its mobile network services. Importantly, Phones 4u has around 150 shops within Dixons' Currys and PC World.
It seems Phones 4u will sell monthly, pay as you go and mobile broadband deals so 4G.co.uk see this as another excellent marketing win for EE on top the Wembley Arena sponsorship by EE reported this week.
