LG begins shipping the G Pad 8.0 LTE

LG has announced that it’s soon going to ship the G Pad 8.0 4G LTE to countries worldwide. The slate is one of several new tablets from LG and follows on from last year’s well received LG G Pad 8.3.

A 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM should ensure it’s fairly powerful, while 16GB of built in storage along with a microSD card slot should allow you to fit all of your films, music and apps on the slate. Rounding out the specs there’s an 8.0 inch 1280 x 800 IPS LCD display, a 5 megapixel main camera, a 1.3 megapixel front facing one, a 4200 mAh battery and Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G connectivity.

So it’s not a top end device but it is reasonably well equipped and can even take advantage of speedy 4G speeds if you pair it with a SIM card.

The LG G Pad 8.0 LTE also has a few handy software features, such as a Smart Keyboard which can supposedly reduce typing errors by up to 75% and Knock Code, which lets you unlock and wake up the device with a series of taps on the screen. LG hasn’t confirmed exactly when we’ll see its new tablet, but it will begin shipping to European countries this week, though as far as the UK goes all it’s said so far is that it will be available sometime in 2014. Markets in Central and South America, Asia and CIS should also get the slate sometime this year.

When it does arrive it should be available in black, white, luminous orange and luminous blue and at 210.8 x 124.2 x 9.9mm and 344g it should be nice and portable. No price has yet been announced but we imagine it will be fairly affordable.
