Kirkby is soon getting upgraded to speedy O2 4G

Kirkby is next in a long line of places to get 4G from O2. The network will also be improving its 2G and 3G services in the area at the same time, so customers will get an all-round better experience.

According to Chad, the network’s improvement works will begin on March the 7th. O2 customers will see the changes in the following weeks, subject to successful implementation and testing.

Derek McManus, chief operating officer for Telefónica UK said: “Customers in Kirkby will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling.

“For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. They can work remotely, access cloud services, collaborate using apps and so on. 4G will make everything easier for them.”

While the 4G upgrade is being carried out, O2 customers in Kirkby may experience temporary signal problems. But if you’re affected one simple solution is to make use of O2 TU Go. This allows O2 customers to keep on texting and talking over Wi-Fi.

EE, Vodafone and Three all already have 4G coverage in Kirkby, so once O2 joins the party it will be a full house. Though Three’s coverage is mostly only outdoors and Vodafone’s is rather mixed.

The improvement works in Kirkby aren’t the only 4G upgrades that O2 has made lately. The network has also recently brought 4G to Kenilworth, Burscough and Montrose. It’s spending £600 million this year alone on upgrading its network and by the end of 2017 it will have invested over £3 billion in 4G and have at least 98% UK population coverage.
