EE is already the biggest and fastest mobile network in the UK, but now it’s looking further afield, with new EE International and International Extra packs allowing customers to call international mobiles and landlines.
The packs seem aimed at those who have friends or family living and working abroad, as they allow you to call up to five different numbers each month. There’s no need for an app, calling card or extra SIMs, so they’re simple and easy to use.
The EE International pack gives you 1000 minutes for use in 50 countries for £10 per month. That equates to 1p per minute and among the countries included are France, India and the US.
The EE International Extra pack gets you 500 minutes for use in 100 countries for £20 per month. At 4p per minute that’s not as cheap, but it gives you access to a greater number of countries, including Pakistan, Switzerland, UAE, Sri Lanka and Kenya.
If you’re interested in grabbing one of these packs you can do so if you’re a new EE customer or are within the first three months of your plan. But bear in mind that you’ll be committed to keeping it for the minimum term of your contract.
As an added bonus if you get in fast and take one of these packs before December 9th 2015 you’ll get an additional 50% allowance per month, bringing you up to 1500 minutes on the International pack and 750 minutes on the International Extra one.
If you’re already in the middle of a plan or just want a bit more flexibility you can also get an EE International add-on, giving you 500 minutes for use in 50 countries for £10 per month, or an International Extra add-on, giving you 250 minutes for use in 100 countries for £20 per month. That’s pricier then, but those can be added and removed at any time.
These new options allow EE to compete with the likes of Lebara and Lyca for international calling, giving prospective customers one more reason to opt for the mobile giant.
