iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have landed

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched a few hours ago in California. There is no doubt they come with larger screens, are way more powerful, come with some great new features and the best part is that they are thinner than any iPhones before them.

The new iPhones come with a much better updated design and sees the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 as the thinnest iPhone in history at just 6.9mm thick whilst its larger brother, the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus, has a depth of 7.1mm. Noticeably, both versions of the iPhone beat its predecessor in the thickness stakes, as the iPhone 5S was 7.6mm. In fact, the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 has decreased in thickness, over the iPhone 5S by 9.2%.

Larger displays with better resolution.

As well have having larger displays, the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and 6 Plus comes with an impressive improvement in display resolution. The iPhone 6’s display resolution has been boosted to 1334 x 750 pixels with a PPI of 401 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus runs at a higher display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel with a PPI of 326. Both come with Retina HD displays deliver higher contrast and are multi-touch.

Both new versions come with an A8 chip with 64-bit architecture with the addition of a new M8 motion coprocessor which when combined deliver a CPU performance which is 20% faster than the 5S and an impressive 50% increase in in graphics performance.

Three colour choices and memory versions to choose from.

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in silver, gold, and space gray along with a choice of either 16, 64 or the all-new 128GB of on-board memory.

Both versions come with an improved 8 megapixel iSight camera which features optical-image-stabilsation and the new intelligent "Focus Pixels" which gives you better and faster autofocus. In addition, it is possible to record full 1080p video at 60 frames per second, or at 240fps at 720p in slow-mo. The secondary camera weighs in at 1.2 mega-pixel snapper, and of course, this is used for Facetime!

Both versions come pre-loaded with iOS 8 with ApplePay which enables you to pay for items in store using ApplePay. This means that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus become the iPhones to feature NFC. There is also a stack of fitness features built-in and the TouchID fingerprint sensor is better and cleverer than ever.
