Giffgaff is ready for its 4G launch
Giffgaff will switch on its 4G network on the 12th November after a successful trial which lasted over six months.
This is great news for Giffgaff customers as they will immediately be able to access 4G in 191 towns and cities. More on this below.
The announcement was made by Ashley Schofield, Marketing & Experience Chief of the company who commented” ’I'm pleased to announce we are ready for a full scale launch of 4G on the 12th November. We’ve created a new set of 4G goodybags to sit alongside our 3G range and we’d like as many of our existing members as possible to try them at no extra cost”
Existing Giffgaff customers can try 4G at no extra cost
So for existing customers on or before 28th October the cost of 4G is as below and comes with an introductory offer. This gives existing customers the chance to access 4G at no extra cost and then pay £3 a month extra for 4G beyond the introductory offer stage or revert back to 3G.
Note : Prices increase for existing customers after 12th January - to align with the prices for new members as detailed below.New 4G customers can access Giffgaff 4G for the rates below.
Ashley Schofield commented further “The 4G trial has been really helpful in understanding data usage. What became clear is when people move to 4G they use more of the available network capacity. We’ve been having an ongoing conversation with customers about delivering the right data experience so with this in mind it seems fairer that the 4G prices reflect the higher usage”
Kevin Thomas, Director at 4G.co.uk said “Its seems a long time ago that Giffgaff began its 4G customer trial but they seem ready to go for it now and another 4G player is always welcome. The latest goodybag deal from the MVNO is an excellent way for existing customers to sample Giffgaffs' 4G service with no risk”. “Lets not forget the top level 4G network and service is provided by O2 so I don’t foresee any issues on that front”.
