27th June 2012
The operator has applied to be the first of the UK companies to offer a 4G service, if it is given the go-ahead by Ofcom to refarm a chunk of its existing spectrum. Everything Everywhere's survey, which was conducted by YouGov, revealed that 82% of those asked said they believed that new technology such as 4G would help to save jobs and ensure that the country remained competitive. Olaf Swantee ( inset ), CEO of Everything Everywhere, said that consumers want fast, reliable broadband and they want it now. He said it was ‘imperative' that with almost three dozen countries in the US, Asia and America already running 4G, that the UK ‘moves forward with building a 21st century digital infrastructure' as quickly as possible.
