EE’s 4G Network Outclasses Allcomers in Belfast

17th September 2013
Independent 4G mobile network tests show EE are rocking in Belfast

EE launched its 4G mobile network in Belfast way back in December, 2012 and have since upgraded this to “double-speed” 4G in July 2013.

Of course, the other mobile operators – Vodafone, O2 and Three have yet to launch their respective 4G mobile networks in Belfast, so to hear that EE have outclassed its competition may not be unexpected but let’s look at what happened.

The independent tests in Belfast were conducted by Rootmetrics who are well known to us here at 4G. Rootmetrics undertook over 26,000 mobile network checks and tests and compared the network performance of EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three in identical situations.

The outcome of the overall tests was that EE came out first for Mobile Internet Performance and joint-first for Call Performance and Text Performance.

The tests showed that EE customers in Belfast would be able to get average download speeds of 25Mbps and average upload speeds of 13.6Mbps. This is pretty impressive. In-fact, EE’s download speed on average was 3 times that of any other operator in Belfast.

4G see the latest findings from Rootmetrics as a key indicator as to how fast and how well EE are rolling out its 4G network across the UK. They are by far the market leader and will have 4G in 120 towns and cities by the end of 2013.

More significantly, they are the only 4G operator in the UK with “double speed” 4G ( in 20 cities ) while we are not aware of Vodafone, O2 or Three having even mentioned this to-date for their respective 4G networks.
