ASIA China : Ericsson and Datang Telecom announced the opening of a joint 4G mobile telecom research center in Datang's Beijing centre. The center will be running in Datang's facility and it will be primarily engaged in the research on long term evolution (LTE) and time-division duplexing (TDD).

The two companies had recently signed a partnership memo on jointly promoting next generation 4G mobile technologies.

Currently, Ericsson enjoys the leading position in the third-generation LTE. And Datang has paved the way for TD development - from time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) technology to time division high speed downlink package access (TD-HSDPA), then to TD-LTE, and to fourth-generation IMT-Advanced TDD.
