Multi Vendor LTE Lab Test with BT

Stoke Inc., the developer of mobile broadband getaway, has announced that it will take part in an LTE lab test with multi-vendor base that is being conducted by the Advanced Research Mobility Team at BT.

A research exercise has been commissioned by BT to look into mobile network flat IP architectures' key aspects, which will include Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Service Architecture Evolution (SAE).  Mobile and fixed network synergies that share the same essential IP architecture will be explored by BT, Stoke, and other partners working together.

The idea of this combined and concerted effort will be to explore ways in which the current technology is able to contribute towards fixed and advanced mobile convergence for wholesale and retail business units, in such a way that the interoperability of vendors will be enhanced in key elements of the architecture, key features will be validated and value-added opportunities may be identified by the research department.

The director of Research and Development at BT, Chris Bilton, stated that the research partnership with Stoke will enable BT to explore ways in which new services for current 3G environments can be developed and how new opportunities can be evolved for 4G architecture.  Valuable insights for both BT and Stoke concerning vendor interoperability may be expected from the findings.

The multi-access platform at Stoke, Stoke Session Exchange (SSX) 3000, will provide the anchor for tests to demonstrate the capacity for BT to consolidate more than two mobile networks into a core 4G mobile infrastructure that is cost effective and highly scaled.
