3G LTE Forecasts for 2014
![]() |
There has been a great deal of market research recently into the LTE systems making their way into the wireless broadband marketplace. Infonetics Research has published a report that tracks the Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network macrocells and LTE subscribers.
Despite a number of potential setbacks, the industry sees no potential slowing down of the 3G and 4G LTE markets. An increasing number of mobile operators have committed to LTE technology. China Mobile and China Telecom are two of these companies and by the end of 2012 there is expected to be a large TD-LTE rollout. With around a dozen live LTE networks by the end of 2010, and commitments for further networks currently topping 60, more companies are expected to make use of the technology.
Infonetics Research shows that LTE marketplace share is to reach $11.4 billion by 2014. The technology will be used in areas with dense coverage to ensure that it can reach the promised speeds. The world's first commercial LTE system has been launched in Norway and Sweden and this has allowed other companies around the world to follow their lead. These include the major providers already mentioned in China and the vast majority of mobile phone companies in Western Europe.
