A preview of the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE – a 4G Ready smartphone.

The Huawei Ascend P1 has been on sale for some time now and now the super fast version of this smartphone is on sale in its 4G LTE version. The Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is currently on sale with both Orange and T-Mobile for use on its 3G network.

When EE ( Everything Everywhere – which owns Orange and T-Mobile ) launches its 4G network on the 30th October, Huawei Ascend P1 4G LTE owners will be able to benefit from download speeds of five times greater than a Huawei Ascend P1 on a 3G network.

A download speed of five times faster means download speeds up to 8-12Mb/sec ( with a theoretical maximum of 40Mb/sec ) and upload speeds of up to 5-6Mb/sec ( with theoretical maximum of 15Mb/sec ) when connected to a 4G network. Although the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is on sale with both T-Mobile and Orange it will only operate at 3G speeds with these two mobile operators ( but can be upgraded to 4G via EE ). If you buy direct from EE after the 30th October then your phone will be connected via 4G LTE from the start.

The main differences between the Huawei Ascend P1 and the new Huawei Ascend P1 4G LTE is the addition of a dual 3G and 4G chip, 4G connectivity and a more powerful 2,000mAh Li-Polymer battery.

The Huawei Ascend P1 4G LTE weighs in at 135 grams and measures 132.5 x 65.4 x 9.9mm which means that it’s a reasonable size for a dual purpose 3G and 4G smartphone. It comes with a 4.3” qHD AMOLED capacitive touch screen featuring scratch-proof Corning Gorilla Glass.

It comes in one colour only which is black and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor, Ice Cream Sandwich for the Android OS, Huawei’s own interface called HAP 5.1, 4GB memory, 1GB of RAM and a Micro SD card (for up to 32GB).

The Huawei Ascend P1 4G LTE has two cameras. A rear camera of 8 Megapixels with auto-focus and LED flash and a front facing 1.3 Megapixel camera and Full HD video recording capabilities.

4G will be undertaking its Huawei Ascend P1 4G LTE review in the near future as soon we get one.
