This is the fourth in a series of articles from 4G.co.uk that put some more meat onto the inner workings of the iPhone 5 4G. This time we take a look the the processing performance and the battery life of the iPhone 5.

The Apple iPhone 5 comes with Apple’s new A6 processor and provides a doubling of processing speed over its predecessor, the iPhone 4S. This is obviously important as everything you task the iPhone 5 to do is now done twice as quickly. Things such as starting Apps, browsing the mobile web, multitasking and anything else you need to do.

These days we all need the most from our display graphics and as quickly as possible. The iPhone 5’s new A6 chip also doubles the graphics speed and comes with better graphics and a smoother gaming experience. This coupled with much a better handling of graphics intensive tasks such as applications and a smother video playback make the A6 a key addition to the iPhone 5.

It’s no use having an iPhone 5 with its doubled speed and greater graphics capacity unless the power is there to drive it. Therefore it also comes with an improved battery and battery management system to cope with the ever increasing battery draining demands of a smartphone running on 4G LTE.

The iPhone 5 has an impressive 8 hours of non-stop internet browsing using 4G LTE which is a good improvement over the 6 hours of non-stop internet browsing via less demanding 3G using the iPhone 4S. Talktime remains the same as for the iPhone 4S at 8 hours continuous talktime whilst there is 10 hours of video time playback before a re-charge is necessary.

All the above, makes for a great improvement over the iPhone 4S and seems to sum up the statement Apple themselves made as follows “iPhone 5 – the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since the iPhone”.
