The EE Robin is the world’s first 4G kids tablet

21st October 2015

EE Robin

EE has released quite a number of own-brand phones and tablets at this point, such as the EE Kestrel and EE Harrier, with many of them providing affordable access to 4G. The new EE Robin is no different, but this time it’s aimed at children.

The colourful tablet comes with over 40 pre-loaded, games, eBooks and educational apps, such as Fruit Ninja and Berry Rush, so there’s no shortage of content. But more can be downloaded from Google Play onto the 8GB of internal memory (expandable to 32GB with a microSD card).

It’s not just local content that children can enjoy though, as the EE Robin also comes with Hopster. This combines thousands of episodes of kids shows such as Postman Pat and Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom with educational games based on the EYFS curriculum.

As the tablet is 4G-enabled your kids will be able to enjoy this and other streamed video both at home and out and about. So they’ll never again be bored during car journeys.

Of course safety is key, which is why every app downloaded from Google Play will require parental approval before it can be used.

The EE Robin also features the Kurio operating system, layered over Android, which is child-friendly and packed full of parental controls, making it easy to set up web filtering, manage app access and use time controls, which limit how much time a child can spend using non-educational apps.

The EE Robin is built from the ground up for children, with a child-proof bumper keeping it safe from falls. While Android 5.1, a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 7-inch screen and a 2 megapixel camera give it the power and versatility expected of a tablet.

While it’s mostly aimed at children, adults can also set up their own profiles with full access to apps, email and other content. So the whole family can make use of the EE Robin.

It’s launching in select EE stores from the 23rd of October and will be available nationwide in store, online and via telesales from the 2nd of November. It’s priced at £129.99 on pay as you go or from £13 per month on Pay Monthly plans.

For £15 per month existing EE customers can get it with no upfront cost, 10GB of data and 24 months access to Hopster.
