We heard of the Sony Xperia Yuga 4G phone earlier this year when it was leaked that Sony had been busy working on another flagship Android 4G smartphone that would likely challenge the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. Then it went quiet again.
This week saw fresh rumours that the Sony Xperia Yuga was alive and well and that it would likely be seen at the CES 2013 exhibition in Las Vegas in January. The news broke via MobileReview who were sporting the two photos posted here too.
Sony Xperia Yuga – is it similar to the Sony Xperia S ?
Looking at the two photos posted the Sony Yuga seems to sport many of the facets of the Xperia S. The leak suggests that the Yuga’s design is minimalistic but done so in a way which still makes it feel like a premium 4G smartphone.
There is no doubt looking at the photos that the Sony Yuga will offer support for both micro USB and micro HDMI ports and at the same time we can see that there are both front and rear facing cameras – as you would expect of course.
Sony Xperia Yuga – the 4G phone’s specification
The as yet unconfirmed specification details of the Sony Yuga include : a 5 inch Mobile Bravia touch-screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 which equates to full HD resolution, a quad core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor, an Adreno 320 Graphics Processor Unit ( GPU ) offering 3D graphic capability and of course it comes with 4G connectivity.
The Sony Yuga is an Android smartphone and is rumoured to land with Android Jelly Bean ( version 4.1 or above ) and this will likely mean that the Yuga will follow in the footsteps of the HTC One XL which was the first 4G phone to be PlayStation Mobile certified.
Sony Xperia Yuga – when is it going to launch
We expect the official launch of the 4G enabled Sony Yuga to be announced sometime during CES in Las Vegas on the 5th January. 4G.co.uk will be watching out for this one and will add more as soon as we hear more on the Sony Yuga.
