Snapdragon Premium Mobile Processors – for 4G Phones

Snapdragon Processor

Qualcomm has announced the next generation of its highly successful Snapdragon mobile processors. Of course, the current Snapdragon S4 quad-core mobile processor is already used in a number of current and up and coming 4G phones such as the Nokia Lumia 920 / 820, Sony Xperia V, HTC M7, LG Optimus G, ZTE Grand S and Grand Pro X and the Sony Xperia Z.

The above 4G phones use the existing Snapdragon S4 quad-core mobile processor but the new Snapdragon 800 processor ( 2.3GHz ) will run at speeds up to 75% faster than the S4. The new Snapdragon 600 processor ( 1.9 GHz ) runs up to 40% faster than the S4 Pro. Both are confirmed as being compatible with 4G LTE ( 4G ) and we can expect to see them appearing within 4G phones and 4G tablets around June / July time this year.

Qualcomm confirmed that both the new quad core processors are undergoing sampling procedures at present. Both of the new Snapdragon mobile processors will feature Adreno Graphics Processing Units ( GPUs ). The Snapdragon 800 benefits from a Adreno 330 GPU which Qualcomm say performs twice as well as the Adreno 320 GPU on the Snapdragon 600.

“With the overwhelming success of our previous Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms, our mobile processors have emerged as the platform of choice for high-end mobile devices,” said Steve Mollenkopf, president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm. “With more than 50 design wins already secured with the first products of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and 800 processors, we are advancing our vision and setting the standard for excellence in mobile computing.”
