Samsung Galaxy S4 – How Is It Shaping Up

2013 is reported to be the year when 4G phones take off with researchers predicting that 4G phone and tablet sales will increase threefold over 2012 sales. Another interesting point is that many phone retailers report that they sold more Samsung Galaxy S3s in the last quarter of 2012 than they sold iPhone 5s. We mention this as we feel that the Samsung Galaxy S4 could be the hottest 4G phone on the planet in 2013.

Hot phones create rumours in advance of their launch and we have already posted 8 earlier articles about the Samsung Galaxy S4. We spotted a video from Russian website Rozetked and thought this is the ideal opportunity to produce a summary of what’s known to-date about the Samsung Galaxy S4.

We would not be surprised if Samsung announce the Samsung Galaxy S4 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February with it going on sale around 3 months later. This may work as it is rumoured that Google will unveil the Android Key Lime Pie operating system around May, 2013.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – 4G connectivity ?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 already comes with 4G connectivity so the S4 will definitely come in a 4G enabled version offering download speeds up to five times faster than 3G.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – which operating system ?

Based on earlier leaks and also on the information detailed in the Rozetked video the Samsung Galaxy S4 ( GT – 19500 ) will come with Android 5.0 ( Android Key Lime ) which has not been released to-date but we would expect the Samsung Galaxy S4 to be one of the first 4G phones to come with Android Key Lime.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – which touchscreen display ?

Previously, we have reported the display screen as a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED touch screen with a resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels and this seems to align with the video information. 4G.co.uk also posted an article that Reuters had reported that the Samsung Galaxy S4 would come with an unbreakable touch screen display which will be manufactured using plastic substrate displays.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – what will power it ?

The processor is reported to be a 2GHz Quad-core Exynos 5450 processor coupled with an Eight-core Graphic Processing Unit ( GPU ) and a smaller 64GB memory chip plus 2GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – what camera will be included ?

The S4 has been previously been leaked as coming with a 13 megapixel camera with a resolution of 4208 x 3120 pixels. It is manufactured by Samsung and brings full 1080p HD video capability and may include some new snazzy new features as yet unknown.

Samsung Galaxy S4 – will it come with Samsung’s S-Pen interface

The guys over at GSMArena are saying yes it will. We first saw the S-Pen on the Samsung Galaxy Note and this incorporates a stylus and applications that make the device more akin to the benefits of using a stylus pen. The screen of 5 inches on the Samsung Galaxy S4 could well justify the addition of a  S-Pen.

That’s as much as we can gather on the Samsung Galaxy S4 for now but we will be sure to track the Samsung Galaxy S4’s development and will post our Samsung Galaxy S4 Review as soon as we get a review copy.
