Blythe Bridge now has new and improved O2 4G

11th January 2016

O2 4G

O2 has got off to a great start in 2016, with new towns and villages already being upgraded to 4G. The latest to benefit is the village of Blythe Bridge in Staffordshire, which should now have a live O2 4G service.

Speaking to the Leek Post & Times, Derek McManus, Chief Operating Officer, Telefónica UK said: "O2 customers in Blythe Bridge can now experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling.

“For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. For instance, they can work remotely, access cloud services and collaborate using apps. O2 4G can make everything easier for our customers."

The upgrade follows other recent O2 4G roll outs in Codnor, Wyberton and Pershore. O2 has already brought 4G to over 600 large towns and cities, as well as thousands of smaller communities. It is the only network with a regulatory requirement to bring 4G to 98 percent of the UK population by the end of 2017.

In order to achieve that O2 invested £600 million in its network in 2015 alone. It will have spent over £3 billion on 4G and improvements to its 2G and 3G service by the end of 2017.

O2 isn’t the only network with 4G coverage in Blythe Bridge. EE and Vodafone also have a 4G presence there, though coverage is patchy. So far there’s no 4G from Three in Blythe Bridge itself, but the surrounding area is well served by the network.
