Vodafone brings 4G roaming to 19 new destinations

Vodafone brought 4G roaming to Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain earlier this year, but that was just the start, as now the company has announced that customers can roam at 4G speeds in a whopping 19 additional locations.

These include Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland and Taiwan.

Cindy Rose, Vodafone UK’s Head of Consumer, said: “Our customers now have 4G in more countries than ever before as a result of Vodafone’s significant global presence. We are really excited to be able to offer our thousands of customers travelling around the world, whether on business or for fun, an even better 4G experience.”

Getting up and running in any of these places is simple, you can automatically use the minutes, texts and data which are included in your plan. The only catch is that if you’re in a Vodafone Europe

Zone then you’ll be charged £3 per day to do so and in a Vodafone WorldTraveller Zone you’ll be charged £5 per day.

That could certainly add up but you’ll only be charged for the days when you actually use your phone and it’s still a lot cheaper than standard roaming charges. Plus if you have a 4G contract then you’ll be able to take advantage of speedy 4G data in any of the above locations.

You need a pay monthly or small business plan to take advantage of this service and it’s worth noting that your 4G coverage will depend on the different mobile networks’ progress in rolling it out, so it may be quite patchy in some countries.

As great as it is to be able to use 4G in 23 foreign locations Vodafone isn’t stopping there, as it’s planning to continue to expand its 4G roaming availability to other countries, so one day you might be able to roam on 4G almost anywhere.
