Ulverston, Arbroath and Montrose get Vodafone 4G

The Best Affordable 4G Phones

Vodafone has hit a major milestone with its 4G rollout, as it’s just brought the service to its 800th community.

The town of Ulverston in Cumbria is lucky number 800 and the improvements allow residents and visitors to do more, faster. Whether that’s browsing the web, streaming HD video or working on the move. The upgrade work also included improvements to Vodafone’s 2G and 3G services in Ulverston. So even if you don’t have a 4G device you should benefit.

Jorge Fernandes, Chief Technology Officer for Vodafone UK, commented: “It is great news that Ulverston has become our 800th 4G community. The arrival of 4G will bring faster internet speeds to customers whilst our overall network improvements in the town and across the area will ensure our customers enjoy stronger outdoor and indoor coverage.

“Local businesses will also be able to react faster to the needs of customers and introduce remote working practices for staff which can help reduce costs and increase productivity.”

Vodafone also recently brought 4G to the towns of Arbroath and Montrose in Angus, Scotland according to the Guide & Gazette. It’s well on its way to its target of 98% UK population coverage.

The 4G rollout in Ulverston should be hugely beneficial to residents. As currently neither O2 nor Three have 4G in the area, while EE only has outdoor coverage.

Montrose is almost as bad, with EE delivering a strong 4G signal but none currently offered by O2 or Three. Arbroath is better served, with both EE and O2 already delivering strong 4G and only Three with none.

These 4G rollouts from Vodafone are part of approximately £2 billion that the company is spending on its network and services in the UK. They follow other recent 4G upgrades from Vodafone in Exeter, Kirkintilloch and Bridlington.
