New customers are set to get first bite at The People’s Operator’s  first 4G plan for the UK.

The socially conscious network, which is also known as TPO, revealed that its first UK 4G plan will cost just £6.99 per month and will offer customers 2GB of 4G data, 600 inclusive minutes (as long as they are to UK mobiles and landlines) as well as unlimited texts to standard UK mobiles.

New customers will be the first to benefit from the new plan, which is offered on a 30-day SIM-only rolling contract – more 4G plans for both new and existing customers are set to be released in July 2016, according to TPO.

The cost for out-of-plan data is 3p per MB while out-of-plan minutes will come in at 10 per min. As with all other plans with TPO, customers are able to nominate a good cause that will receive 10% of their monthly mobile spend. This comes at no additional cost to the consumer.

TPO Mobile operates on the EE network, which should ensure decent coverage, even for 4G.

TPO CEO and co-founder Mark Epstein said: “I’m really excited about the introduction of our first UK 4G plan. This is another important milestone on our journey to help people use their mobile to make a big difference. Now, even more people can save when they switch to TPO and, at the same time, support a cause they care about.”

TPO was founded in 2012 on the basis that mobile could be used to change lives for the better – it promises a quarter of its profits to the TPO Foundation charitable trust, and since it began has directed funds to hundreds of causes such as the British Heart Foundation, The Trussell Trust, and Emerge Poverty Free.
