Barely a day goes by when we don’t hear news of another town getting O2 4G and this time it’s Conwy in Wales which is due a speed boost.
According to the Daily Post, the upgrade work is due to start on Monday November the 2nd in the walled market town. Improvements to the areas 2G and 3G services are also planned.
Subject to successful implementation and testing O2 customers in Conwy should see 4G become available and their speeds go up in the following weeks.
During the upgrade work it’s possible that there may be disruptions to service, in which case it’s recommended that you use the O2 TU Go app. This will allow you to continue to use your phone over Wi-Fi.
Derek McManus, chief operating officer, Telefónica UK, said: “O2 customers in Conwy will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling.
“For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. They can work remotely, access cloud services, collaborate using apps and so on. 4G will make everything easier for them.”
The roll out of 4G in an area is always good news, but it’s especially good for Conwy. As the town, along with many other areas in Wales, has been ranked amongst the highest for digital exclusion. So the availability of O2 4G will go some way to address that.
In fact, Conwy could soon be a lot better connected, as EE has already brought 4G to the area and Vodafone has improvement work planned soon. That leaves just Three with seemingly no upcoming coverage.
The news of O2’s planned upgrade work comes just after similar news about Alnwick and Epworth getting an O2 4G boost.
