A look at which 4G phones are on sale and whose selling them.

A look at which 4G phones are on sale and whose selling them.

Following on from the announcement this week that EE ( Everything Everywhere that owns Orange and T-Mobile ) is launching 4G in 10 cities on the 30th October we thought it would be a good idea to learn which 4G phones you could buy today.

Firstly, we need to explain that although both Orange and T-Mobile will be selling 4G enabled phones, they won’t actually work on 4G with an Orange or T-Mobile contract but will operate on 3G. However, anyone buying a 4G enabled phone from Orange or T-Mobile will later be contacted by EE to update to 4G or stay on 3G. Those choosing to switch to 4G will have an upgraded contract and move to EE and you will be given a new EE 4G SIM card.

Orange are currently selling the following 4G enabled phones : iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE Marble White, Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE Marble Titanium, HTC One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE. Orange are calling these as “4G Ready”.

T-Mobile are currently selling the iPhone 5 16GB in White and Black, iPhone 5 32GB in White and Black, iPhone 5 64GB in White and Black, Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE Marble White, Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE Marble Titanium, HTC One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE. T-Mobile are also calling these as “4G Ready”.

EE themselves will be offering the same “4G Ready” smartphones as above and some more too. EE have confirmed other “4G Ready” devices which include the Samsung Galaxy Note II LTE which can be bought from the 15th October and Nokia’s Lumia 920 and 820 which will be ready to buy in November.

Other “4G Ready” devices advised by EE as coming to its portfolio are the Huawei E589 Mobile Wi-Fi device and the Huawei E392 Mobile Broadband stick. 4G like the way EE has clearly dubbed these “4G Ready” on their 3 websites ( Orange, T-Mobile and EE ) as this is a straight talking way to minimise the potential headaches for phone buyers.
